The recipients of the 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grants, to be announced on Tuesday, March 28, are Nina Bernat, double bassist; Bokyung Byun, guitarist; Emi Ferguson, flute player; Evren Ozel, pianist; and the Isidore String Quartet. The awards will be presented in a ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time at classical-music station WQXR’s Jerome L. Greene Performance Space in NYC. All five Career Grant recipients will perform for an invited audience following the announcement. Hosted by WQXR’s Elliott Forrest, the Career Grant performances will be webcast live by WQXR at www.wqxr.org and broadcast on Tuesday, April 11 and Saturday, April 15 on 105.9 FM. The Avery Fisher Career Grants, a part of the Avery Fisher Artist Program, are designed to give professional assistance and recognition to talented instrumentalists, as well as chamber ensembles, who have great potential for major careers in classical music. Each recipient receives an award of $25,000, to be used for specific needs in advancing a career.
