In Tuesday’s (12/18) Reporter-News (Abilene, Texas), Janet Van Vleet writes, “The president of the board of the Abilene Philharmonic tendered her resignation to the board Tuesday morning. Debbie Blake left for personal reasons, said President-elect Jim Pizzorno. Pizzorno is acting president in her stead. The regularly scheduled board of governors’ meeting is this afternoon. Pizzorno said the board will elect a new president at the meeting. When asked if he was considering the position, he said, ‘It’s a big responsibility and I’m thinking about it.’ Having said that, he added that a governors committee must make a recommendation as to the choice of candidate for president. Heidi Kelley, executive director, gave her three-month notice on Dec. 10. She confirmed that she received a text Tuesday morning from Blake that said she was resigning.”
