RICHARD KESSLER, dean of New York City’s Mannes College The New School For Music, has been elected board chair of Chamber Music America, the national network of ensemble-music professionals dedicated to supporting and strengthening the chamber-music community. Kessler has been a member of CMA’s board since 2013, and was previously the facilitator for the CMA research project “National Conversations,” which studied the impact on musicians and presenters of the Great Recession that began in 2008, and which formed the basis for CMA’s subsequent Strategic Plan. Prior to being named dean at Mannes in 2011, Kessler served as chief executive of New York City’s Center for Arts Education (2004-11) and of the American Music Center (1997-2004).
