Chautauqua Institution in western New York has announced the appointment of DEBORAH SUNYA MOORE as vice president responsible for all arts programming at Chautauqua, effective October 1. She will succeed MARTY W. MERKLEY, who plans to retire as vice president and director of programming in September following his 25th season with the organization. Moore has served as Chautauqua’s associate director of programming since September 2013. Previous affiliations include the University of Trinidad and Tobago, where she was associate professor of percussion and a specialist in arts education and community engagement; and the Louisville Orchestra, where she served as director of education and community engagement from 2004 to 2009. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance and arts education from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a master’s in education curriculum and instruction from the University of Cincinnati.
