The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has announced that Vice President of Artistic Operations MARK MELSON will retire from that post at the end of August. Melson, 60, celebrated his 26th anniversary with the orchestra in May of this year. He will continue to work with the DSO on a consulting basis over the next two years, assisting with training, artistic administration, and other projects. ALDERT VERMEULEN, the DSO’s director of artistic planning, will take over many of Melson’s responsibilities.
