MELISSA SANDERS has been named senior director of communications for the Green Music Center at California’s Sonoma State University. In this newly created position she will oversee public relations, marketing, advertising, and other communications activities for a performing arts complex that includes the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Hall and Lawn, Schroeder Hall, and the Prelude Restaurant. Sanders was previously senior director of communications at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and before assuming that position in 2008 spent eleven years in the public relations department of the New York Philharmonic. A graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations, she is also a former musician (flute and baritone horn).
