The Hartford (Conn.) Symphony Orchestra has appointed JUSTIN ELLIS director of artistic operations. He was previously operations manager at the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and had earlier held posts at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago, and Chamber Music Northwest (Portland, Ore.) A French hornist, Ellis held the post of sergeant: senior instrumentalist in the 234th Army Band in Portland. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Portland State University as well as Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts Administration degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
