Florida’s Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of TONI PAZ as chief patron officer, effective January 16, 2012. This newly created position, an outgrowth of a strategic planning process begun in 2010, is key to a major reorganizational effort by the JSO that will integrate marketing, annual fund, and public relations functions with the goal of building patron loyalty. Paz goes to Jacksonville from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, where for the past five years she has served as director of individual support. Before joining the ASO in 2006 she spent three years as director of development and communications for Chase Brexton Health Services Inc. Prior posts include director of individual support, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (1998-2003); development associate and development assistant, Center Stage (1997-98); and music librarian assistant, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (1994-95). Paz holds a bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance from California’s University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music and a master’s in clarinet performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. From 2008 to 2010 she was a participant in the League of American Orchestras’ Executive Leadership Program for Development and Marketing Professionals.
