At California’s Oakland East Bay Symphony, MAYA RATH has been promoted to general manager, and LESLIE FAY MARKS appointed to the post of development director.
Maya Rath, general manager, has served on the OEBS staff for twenty years, previously holding posts as finance director, concert production manager, development director, and acting executive director. Before coming to Oakland she served as general manager of the California Symphony (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and as assistant director of the San Francisco Arts Commission. During the 1988-89 season Rath participated in the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program. Upon graduation from that program she was named orchestra manager of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and subsequently handled tour management for the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. Rath holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Smith College and an MBA/MPH from Tulane University.
Leslie Fay Marks, development director, goes to Oakland from the Pacific Symphony in Orange County, Calif., where she managed the annual fund and worked with the orchestra’s individual donors and volunteers. Additional performing arts experience includes serving as director of operations for the Linton Chamber Music Series in Cincinnati. Marks holds a master’s degree in arts administration and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
