Portland-based Oregon Bach Festival has announced the appointment of organist PAUL JACOBS as head of its newly created Organ Institute; under his direction the first institute will take place June 30-July 5, 2014, during the festival season. Jacobs, an active performer on recital stages and with symphony orchestras, has chaired the organ department at The Juilliard School since 2004. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied organ with John Weaver and harpsichord with Lionel Party, and trained in organ with Thomas Murray at Yale University School of Music.
