The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of CHRISTIAN SCHÖRNICH as chief operating officer, effective January 1, 2016. He has more than fifteen years of experience in international leadership and management, most recently as senior consultant in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the United Nations. Prior to the U.N. he held posts as project consultant at the Center for Applied Research in Boston and as senior manager at the Munich International Airport. Schörnich holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Konstanz in Germany and a master’s in law and diplomacy, with a certificate in economic analysis, from Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
