The Seattle Symphony has appointed CHARLIE WADE to the newly created position of senior vice president, marketing and business operations. He will oversee the earned-revenue side of the Seattle Symphony and Benaroya Hall, including marketing, sales, the ticket office, telemarketing, resident companies, ushers, facilities, Seattle Pops, and Live @ Benaroya Hall. Under Wade’s supervision, Christy Wood and Troy Skubitz will continue in their current roles as director of marketing and director of Benaroya Hall, respectively. Wade’s most recent orchestra post was at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, where he was vice president for marketing and symphony pops. During his time at the ASO (1998-2012), he led several upgrades in marketing technology, as well as spearheading the organization’s unification of its various venues and business units and the re-branding of the orchestra. He was also credited with revitalizing the ASO’s Pops series. Wade has consulted on marketing strategy, pops programming, and customer relations with such organizations as the New York Philharmonic and the Indianapolis, National, San Francisco, and Sydney symphonies. He has been actively involved with long-term orchestra audience research projects and as a presenter at arts marketing conferences.
