Aaron Flagg_Mar09.jpgThe Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford (Conn.) has announced the appointment of AARON A. FLAGG as dean, effective June 30. Flagg has served as executive director of the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains, N.Y., since June 2005. Previous affiliations include The Juilliard School, where he was a member of the graduate faculty and director of educational outreach, and the University of Connecticut, where he served as director of jazz studies. A professional trumpet player, Flagg has performed recitals, concerto engagements, and chamber music concerts; given master classes at Jackson State University and Fayetteville State University; and lectured at the Curtis Institute, Oberlin College, and Carnegie Hall. He is a board member of the League of American Orchestras and chapter chair of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, New York Metro Area. Flagg holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.
