BAHIA RAMOS has been appointed director of arts at the Wallace Foundation, effective September 6. She will succeed Daniel Windham, who retires at the end of September. At the New York City-based foundation, Ramos will lead the arts program unit and the team responsible for the strategic design and implementation of Wallace’s arts initiatives. She will also head Wallace’s work in arts education, which seeks to increase equitable access to arts education for young people. Ramos most recently served as national director of arts at the Miami-based John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, where she led the strategy for a $35 million annual investment in arts funding. Prior to that, Ramos was director of community foundations at Knight, where she managed a $140 million investment in community foundations in 26 cities. Ramos previously served as director of government and community affairs at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and occupied a similar role at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Ramos received an undergraduate degree in history from Williams College, and a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs.
