WQXR 105.9 FM, New York City’s classical public radio station, has announced the appointment of MARTHA BONTA as executive producer for live events and special programming, effective August 29. Bonta is currently a vice president at IMG Artists in New York, where she represents such artists as conductor Joana Carneiro, violinist Chad Hoopes, and pianists Leif Ove Andsnes, Piotr Anderszewski, and Murray Perahia. At WQXR she will be responsible for shaping the “Carnegie Hall Live” broadcast series and the station’s season-long partnerships with the New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera, and other New York arts institutions. Prior to IMG Bonta served as director of artistic planning and touring at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and she has also held administrative posts at the New York Philharmonic, the artist management firm Frank Salomon Associates, and Marlboro Music Festival. A cellist, pianist, and choral singer, Bonta holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Yale University.
