In January, Pennsylvania’s Allentown Symphony Orchestra will hold its second annual Phantasy Symphony Orchestra for amateur musicians age 21 and older. Participants rehearse in sectional groups on January 19, and a dress rehearsal and play-through informal performance are both scheduled for January 24 at Miller Symphony Hall, with Music Director Diane Wittry leading amateur musicians alongside professional musicians from the Allentown Symphony. Repertoire will include the Prelude to Act II of Wagner’s Lohengrin, the “March to the Scaffold” from Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, and selections from Bizet’s Carmen and Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers. Last year’s inaugural event included participants ranging in age from 21 to 77 from throughout the Lehigh Valley. For more information and to register, click here.
