On September 15, Michigan’s Ann Arbor Symphony will perform William Bolcom’s Ann Arbor Saturday on its season-opening program at Hill Auditorium. The orchestra commissioned the work from Bolcom, who is based in Ann Arbor. The program, led by Music Director Arie Lipsky, will include Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 (“New World”) accompanied by “visual choreography” by Adrian Wyard. The orchestra’s 2018-19 season, its 90th, will also feature a new composition by University of Michigan composer Jessica Hunt and Peter Maxwell Davies’s An Orkney Wedding, With Sunrise, as well as music by Bartók, Beethoven, Dvořák, Gershwin, Haydn, Mahler, Mozart, Shostakovich, and Vivaldi.
