“As children, brothers Netanel and Yoni Draiblate filled the family’s three-bedroom condo with the sounds of the violin and the cello,” writes Sarah Hainesworth in Sunday’s (11/8) Capital Gazette (Annapolis, Md.) “The brothers will take to the stage at Maryland Hall for Annapolis Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Debussy, Dvořák & Brahms’ concert Nov. 13 and 14. Violinist Netanel, the ASO’s concertmaster, will join his cellist brother Yoni”—the orchestra’s associate principal cellist—“in Debussy’s ‘Petite Suite,’ Dvořák’s Concerto for Violin in A Minor, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 in F Minor…. Netanel, 33, and Yoni, 29, remember life in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv in Israel…. Netanel came to the United States in 2004. Yoni made the move in 2009.” Netanel also serves as concertmaster of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and Lake Forest Symphony; Yoni is pursuing a doctorate at Temple University and is the principal cellist of Symphony of C in New Jersey. Says Annapolis Symphony Music Director Jose-Luis Novo, “It’s a thrill to have two people that talented and, on top of that, they’re brothers, so that adds a factor of them knowing how to play together. It’s like a bonus package.”
