The deadline is December 13 to apply for ArtPlace America’s 2014 Innovation Grants, which support initiatives from arts organizations, artists, and designers working in partnership with local and national partners on strategies to transform their communities. Grants range from $50,000 to $500,000, and finalists for the grants will be announced in February 2014. Among the prior and current recipients of ArtPlace grants are the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, for site-specific programs in Orleans Parish at community school sites; the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center in New Orleans, which will house the Heritage School of Music; the Higher Ground, a community-based art project in Harlan County, Kentucky; and the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage, for master artist residencies by nationally known Alaska Native artists. ArtPlace America is a collaboration of national and regional foundations, banks, and federal agencies; the Nonprofit Finance Fund serves as investment and grant manager for the collaboration.
