The New York City-based Arcos Orchestra will perform the world premiere of a work by Anders Eliasson, its composer-in-residence, on its “Sensational Sweden” program on March 14. Artistic Director John-Edward Kelly will lead the concert of contemporary Swedish music at Manhattan’s  historic Temple Emanu-El, which will also include the U.S. premieres of Jan Sandström’s Acintyas (1985) and Miklós Maros’s Sinfonia Concertante, with soloists Elissa Cassini (violin), Dane Johansen (cello), and Ryan Koehler (bass). The orchestra heads to Dresden, Vienna, Stuttgart, Würzburg, Berlin, and Munich in May and June for its third European tour, with pianist Cédric Pescia and violinist Baiba Skride as soloists. Founded in 2005 by conductor John-Edward Kelly and concertmaster Elissa Cassini, Arcos became orchestra in residence in 2010 at Temple Emanu-El, located at Fifth Avenue and 65th Street; its concerts there are offered admission-free.
