The Arizona Philharmonic, a new professional orchestra based in Prescott, will open its inaugural season on August 26 at Yavapai College Performing Arts Center with a program of music by Prescott composer Henry Flurry, conducted by Peter Bay. The Arizona Philharmonic will perform Bach’s Magnificat in D and Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 with the Prescott Chorale in October; the Messiah with Yavapai College choral groups in December; and Carmina Burana with Ballet Victoria and vocalists from Yavapai College choral groups in March. In addition to performing concerts, the Arizona Philharmonic plans to bring music to children served by the nonprofit organization Big Brothers, Big Sisters, as well as to veterans and assisted-living residents.
