PHILIP MANN has signed a three-year extension of his contract as music director of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, based in Little Rock. He has held that post since the start of the 2010-11 season. Prior to the ASO Mann spent three years with the San Diego Symphony, as assistant conductor and subsequently associate conductor, through the League of American Orchestras’ American Conducting Fellows Program. Trained at Indiana University, Oxford University, and London’s Guildhall School of Music and Royal Academy of Music, he has guest conducted widely and has held conducting posts with the Oxford University Philharmonia, Oxford City Opera, and Oxford Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra; Colorado’s Music in the Mountains festival; and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
