The Boston Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of KEN-DAVID MASUR as assistant conductor. His two-year term takes effect in the 2014-15 season. A Tanglewood Music Center Fellow in 2011 and 2012, he first conducted the BSO in concert in July 2012, leading Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik and Piano Concerto K. 491 on a concert shared with conductor Kurt Masur, his father. Ken-David Masur is currently associate conductor of the San Diego Symphony and principal guest conductor of the Munich Symphony. His recent engagements have included the Dresden Philharmonic, Russian National Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Toulouse, Hiroshima Symphony, Japan Philharmonic, and the Memphis and Portland (Me.) symphony orchestras. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, and furthered his training at the Leipzig Academy, Detmold Academy, Manhattan School of Music, and Berlin’s Hochscule für Musik “Hanns Eisler,” as well as with his father.
