The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of ERINA YASHIMA as Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprentice. In her apprenticeship, which begins in February 2016 and continues through Januaryh 2018, In she will spend at least ten weeks each season studying and assisting Music Director Riccardo Muti, and will work with the CSO’s training ensemble, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Yashima was recently named répétiteur, with conducting duties, at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautem in her native Germany. From 2013 to 2015 she was music director of the Freies Studentenorchester Rostock. In May 2015 Yashima appeared as guest conductor with two El Sistema orchestras in Venezuela.
