The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has announced two additions to its musician roster: STEPHANIE JEONG, associate concertmaster, and STEPHEN WILLIAMSON, principal clarinet. Jeong joins the orchestra in September 2011 at the start of the CSO’s 2011-12 season. A member of the New York Philharmonic since 2010, she grew up in Chicago and made her solo debut with the CSO at age twelve as winner of its Feinburg Competition. Also a winner of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Albert M. Greenfield Competition, she received her bachelor’s degree under the tutelage of Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute of Music, and recently completed her master’s degree at The Juilliard School as a student of Cho-Liang Lin and Ronald Copes. Williamson joined the CSO this month on the orchestra’s European tour. He has served most recently as principal clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and of Japan’s Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra, and as a faculty member at Columbia University, Mannes College the New School for Music, and the Pacific Music Festival. He has won numerous prizes including the Concert Artists Guild Competition. Williamson received his bachelor’s degree and performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s degree from The Juilliard School.
