TITO MUÑOZ has been named music director of Ensemble LPR, a newly formed orchestra affiliated with the New York City performance venue Le Poisson Rouge. He also holds two posts in France: music director of the Opéra National de Lorraine and of the Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy. As a participant in the League of American Orchestras’ American Conducting Fellows Program, Muñoz served for three years as assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra, and had previously held assistant conductor posts at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. A native of New York, he studied violin at that city’s Queens College, and pursued conducting studies at Aspen Music Festival and School and in the National Conducting Institute, a program administered by the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C.
