The Georgia Symphony Orchestra, headquartered in Marietta, has announced the appointment of CHRISTOPHER THIBDEAU as creative director and associate conductor. He has served as associate conductor of the Brighton Symphony Orchestra (Rochester, N.Y.) and as cover conductor for the Lexington (Ky.) Philharmonic Orchestra and the Firelands Symphony Orchestra (Sandusky, Ohio). Thibdeau is also an adjunct professor of cello at Clayton State University (Morrow, Ga.), has presented workshops and educational concerts in cities across the U.S., and has taught in the El Sistema-inspired Atlanta Music Project. He holds a bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s in orchestral conducting from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
