The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association has announced that THOMAS WILKINS will continue his relationship with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra (HBO) with a new title, principal conductor, effective immediately. He had served as principal guest conductor of the orchestra since 2008, when he became the ensemble’s first titled leader since founding director John Mauceri stepped down in 2006. During his tenure as principal guest conductor Wilkins conducted 50 concerts of the HBO, including first-time appearances with orchestra by Earth Wind & Fire, Chris Isaak, Juanes, Sarah McLaughlin, and the Brian Setzer Orchestra. As principal conductor he leads the HBO eight times this summer including the opening-night concert, which took place on June 21. Wilkins continues as music director of the Omaha Symphony, a post he has held since 2005, and as the Germeshausen Family and Youth Concert Conductor at the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
