The Memphis Symphony Orchestra has appointed ANDRE DYACHENKO principal clarinet to succeed JAMES GHOLSON, who is retiring in May of this year after 39 years with the orchestra. Dyachenko, a native of Ukraine, holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota, respectively. He has been serving as acting second clarinet at the Houston Grand Opera and as a frequent player with the Houston Symphony while completing his studies at Rice University, where he expects to complete his doctoral degree this year.
