The New York Youth Symphony has appointed ANDY CLAUSEN director of its NYYS Jazz Band, beginning in the 2016-17 season. He will succeed MATT HOLMAN, who is now in his sixth season as jazz band director. Clausen is a composer, trombonist, and bandleader originally from Seattle and now living in New York, where he graduated from the Juilliard School. He is a founding member of The Westerlies, a brass quartet dedicated to contemporary music.
