BRANDON KEITH BROWN has been named associate conductor of Nebraska’s Omaha Area Youth Orchestras, effective August 1, 2011. He will succeed JENNIFER BOOMGAARDEN, who left the organization last August to become executive director of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Brown is a recent graduate of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he studied with Gustav Meier and received a master’s degree in orchestral conducting. He has also received training from such conductors as Marin Alsop, Leonard Slatkin, James DePreist, and Thomas Wilkins, and served as cover conductor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Brown received a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Northwestern University and studied violin for two years at Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
