The Oregon East Symphony, based in Pendleton, Ore., has appointed ANTHONY SPAIN music director and conductor, effective June 1, 2011. He will hold this post concurrently with his music directorship of the Northwest Symphony Orchestra in Seattle, Wash. Spain has guest conducted orchestras and choirs throughout North America and Europe, and has served as cover conductor with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. He works regularly with students throughout the Seattle area through the NWSO’s “Symphony for Students” program.
