The Board of Directors of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra has announced that CHRISTOPHER WILKINS’s contract as music director has been extended for five years. He has led the orchestra since the fall of 2005, during which time it has partnered with arts organizations throughout Central Florida including the Orlando Ballet, Orlando Opera, Mad Cow Theatre, “Negro Spiritual” Scholarship Foundation, and Orlando Museum of Art. As music director he has worked with both of the city’s principal youth orchestras and with area music students, especially the vocal students at Jones High School. Wilkins is also music director of the Akron Symphony, and previously held music directorships at the San Antonio and Colorado Springs symphonies.
