Philharmonia Baroque in San Francisco has announced the appointment of MICHAEL COSTA as general manager. Formerly the orchestra’s director of finance and administration, he will report to Executive Director Peter Pastreich and supervise artistic administration, finance, operations, marketing, public relations, and education programs. Costa has served as program coordinator at Resources for Indispensable Schools and Educators (RISE), as a classroom teacher on Chicago’s South Side, and as a consultant to nonprofit organizations through Exponent Partners. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, he holds a bachelor’s degree in classics from Brown University, a bachelor’s in music from Rhode Island College, and a master’s in education from Northwestern University.
