The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has announced that JEFF TYZIK, its principal pops conductor for the past seventeen seasons, has extended his contract with the RPO for five additional years, through the 2015-16 season. Also an accomplished composer and arranger, Tyzik has written more than 200 works for orchestra; his most recent commission, a timpani concerto written for RPO Principal Timpani Charles Ross, was premiered by the RPO under Music Director Christopher Seaman in January 2010.  In addition to his RPO post Tyzik serves as principal pops conductor of the Portland-based Oregon Symphony and of the Vancouver Symphony in British Columbia, Canada.
