The San Juan Symphony (Durango, Colo.) has appointed THOMAS HEUSER music director, effective with the 2016-17 season. He is currently music director of the Idaho Falls Symphony in Idaho, a post he has held since 2011 and will retain. Since 2013 Heuser has also served as principal guest conductor of the San Francisco Academy Orchestra. He received his early training in piano and violin, and following graduation from Vassar College earned a master’s degree in conducting from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a doctorate in conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In 2010 he was a conducting fellow at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
