GENNY NELSON has been named conductor of the Strings Orchestra, an ensemble of the South Carolina Philharmonic Youth Orchestras Program, based in Columbia. S.C. She directs the orchestra program at River Bluff High School in Lexington, S.C. A South Carolina native and alumna of the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Columbus (Ga.) State University and a master’s in music education at Louisiana State University. She subsequently founded Grace Notes Music Studio in Baton Rouge, La., which offers private lessons to area students.
