The Venice Symphony in southwest Florida has announced the retirement of WESLEY JOHN SCHUMACHER as music director and conductor following a twenty-year tenure. In recognition of his distinguished service the Board of Directors has given Schumacher the title of conductor emeritus. The remaining concerts for this season will be led by guest conductors, and the orchestra hopes to announce a successor to Schumacher in June of this year.
