Young Concert Artists announced that it has awarded seven first prizes of its 2008-09 International Auditions: Ray Chen (19, violin); Ran Dank (26, piano); Jeanine De Bique (27, soprano); Hahn-Bin (21, violin); Bella Hristova (23, violin); Noé Inui (22, violin); and Carolina Ullrich (25, soprano). The prizes were announced after the final auditions, which took place on January 17 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Each first-prize winner receives a $5,000 career development grant, as well as debuts during the 2009-10 season at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater in Washington, D.C., and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Seven finalists received second-place prizes of $1,000: Hrachya Avanesyan (22, violin); Gabriel Cabezas (16, cello); Josu De Solaun (26, piano), Aleksandr Haskin (25, flute), Julian Steckel (26, cello), Jirí Vodicka (20, violin), and Keju Wang (22, viola).
