“The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, which has enjoyed a vibrant association with principal pops conductor Jack Everly since 2003, will keep it going for at least five more years,” writes Tim Smith in Thursday’s (2/18) Baltimore Sun. “Everly’s contract has been extended until 2021. (Music director Marin Alsop’s current contract likewise runs until that year.) Also on the podium front, Nicholas Hersh, the BSO’s versatile and energetic assistant conductor since 2014, has been promoted to associate conductor. With the new title comes one subscription week program each season. Hersh will also continue to conduct and co-curate the Pulse series featuring indie bands, as well as BSO educational and family concerts. He will also be artistic director and conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras.”
