California’s Berkeley Symphony and EarShot—the nationwide network of new-music readings and composer-development programs—have selected four composers for EarShot’s 2013-14 Under Construction Program, which helps emerging composers develop their works with a professional orchestra. The four composers are Sivian Eldar, from San Francisco; B.P. Herrington (Conroe, Texas); Ruben Naeff (Brooklyn, New York); and Nicholas S. Omiccioli (Kansas City, Missouri). The Berkeley Symphony will workshop and perform a new symphonic work by each of the four composers on February 2 and May 4 concerts at the Osher Studio in Berkeley. EarShot is a partnership of American Composers Orchestra, American Composers Forum, New Music USA, and the League of American Orchestras.
