A report in Thursday’s (7/14) San Antonio-Express (Texas) states, “New Braunfels attorney Ellen M. Salyers took office as the newly elected president of the board of directors of the Mid-Texas Symphony on July 1. Other officers include Cathy Talcott, vice president; Martha Rinn, secretary; Chris Bischoff, vice president of finance and treasurer; Jack Linden, vice president of education; Sara Hartin, vice president of music; Kathy Nossaman, vice president of guild; Marty Lindley, vice president of marketing; Jon Moline, vice president of development; and Cindy Peterman, vice president of tickets. The entire 39-member board includes community leaders from New Braunfels, Seguin, Canyon Lake and Wimberley, reflecting some of the diverse communities from which the Mid-Texas Symphony draws its audience. Salyers opened her tenure by leading a full-board workshop reviewing the many different facets of symphony operations from constructing a symphony season to preparing the free children’s concerts to reviewing the finances of the organization. … ‘Even board members may not be involved in all of the aspects of the symphony and are amazed at all that the symphony does and all the work that it takes to “make it happen” while staying in the black,’ ” Salyers says in the article.
