The Boston Symphony Orchestra has announced the election of WILLIAM “BILL” F. ACHTMEYER as chair of the BSO Board of Trustees—the top leadership position on the board—and of PAUL BUTTENWIESER as president of the Board of Trustees. Achtmeyer is chairman and managing partner of The Parthenon Group LLC and an expert in corporate and business unit strategy; his cultural affiliations include service as an overseer of Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts and as a governor of the Handel and Haydn Society. Buttenwieser, a psychiatrist specializing in psychoanalysis and in child and adolescent psychiatry, is co-founder of the Family-to-Family Project, which works with homeless families in the Boston area. He recently stepped down as chairman of Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art after nearly a decade of leading its Board of Trustees.
