League of American Orchestras Chair Lowell J. Noteboom has announced the appointment of HENRY PEYREBRUNE and BARRY A. SANDERS to the League’s Board of Directors. Peyrebrune and Sanders, who will both serve three-year terms, were elected by the League membership during its annual meeting in June.

HENRY PEYREBRUNE joined the bass section of The Cleveland Orchestra in 1997. Before coming to Cleveland, he served as principal bass with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada (1994-1997). He has also been principal bass of the Portland Symphony, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Boston Philharmonic, and Cantata Singers, and has been a member of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Peyrebrune has taught at the University of Southern Maine, Longy School of Music, and Concord Academy. He is a Teaching Artist with The Cleveland Orchestra’s Learning Through Music school partnership program, and, in addition, he is currently a member of the faculty at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music and serves as board president of NoteWorthy Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial cooperative serving Northeast Ohio’s arts community.

BARRY SANDERS served on the Board of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for more than a decade in leadership positions including chairman, president, and interim general manager. He successfully guided the Philharmonic in the negotiation of the lease for Walt Disney Concert Hall, the renovation of the Hollywood Bowl, and the leadership transition from Ernest Fleischmann to Deborah Borda as president and CEO. He is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Opera and Chair of the Governance Committee, and has served on the Boards of Directors of the Los Angeles Performing Arts Center, the Music Center Foundation, The Walt Disney Concert Hall Corporation, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, among others. An international corporate lawyer, Sanders recently retired from the partnership at the law firm of Latham & Watkins.
