On October 13, the Boulder Philharmonic will perform the first of two concerts dedicated to the exploration of space, led by Music Director Michael Butterman. The program at University of Colorado Boulder’s Macky Auditorium, entitled “Infinite Space,” will feature Holst’s The Planets, Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst, and James Stephenson’s Celestial Suite, inspired by pioneering astronomers throughout history and featuring projections of NASA images from space. There will also be a free pre‐concert talk hosted by Colorado Public Radio’s Marilyn Cooley, with Michael Butterman, astronomer Kyle Kremer, and Dr. David Brain of CU’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. In the Philharmonic’s ongoing series of free musical hikes, the October 5, 11, and 12 hikes are entitled “Meet the Planets.”
