On Monday (7/29) in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, James Chilton reports, “After two and a half years at the helm of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, executive director Kim Lovett is stepping down. Lovett, who previously served as Laramie County treasurer, has announced her resignation, effective Aug. 16. She has accepted a position as excise tax administrator for the Wyoming Department of Revenue. ‘I really thought I would be retiring from this job,’ Lovett said on Friday. ‘But this opportunity was made available, and it was one I couldn’t pass up.’ Lovett took the executive director’s job in January 2011 following the eight-year tenure of Chloe Illoway. Now it will fall to the symphony’s executive committee to find her replacement.… Bob Fecht is president of the executive committee. He said both Illoway and Lovett have done a good job of keeping the symphony on a sound financial footing, especially as other orchestras across the country have faced diminishing returns. ‘There were times a long time ago when the symphony operated at a loss, and we’re meeting our budgetary expenses right now,’ Fecht said.”
