The Chicago Symphony Orchestra will host a public celebration of the life of Chicago journalist Andrew Patner in Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center on March 18 at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public, and tickets are not required. Andrew Patner, who died on February 3 at age 55, was critic-at-large for WFMT-FM and contributing critic on classical music for the Chicago Sun-Times. Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera Orchestra and jazz pianists Willie and Bethany Pickens, among others, will provide musical tributes. Donations in Patner’s memory may be made to Chicago Children’s Choir, in which Patner sang as a child. For more information about the event, call 312-294-3000.
