The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will perform Woodstock: A Flashback, a tribute concert tied to the 40th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock festival in Bethel, New York, on its July 18 “Jeans ‘n Classics” concert at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati. Associate Conductor Steven Reineke will lead the orchestra and guest rock performers in songs by Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Sly and the Family Stone, The Band, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Janis Joplin, John Sebastian, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Guest performers will include vocalists Neil Donell, Rique Franks, Katalin Kiss, and Jean Meilleur; guitarist/vocalist Dave Dunlop; guitarist Peter Brennan; pianist/host John Regan; drummer Jeff Christmas; and bass player Mitch Tyler. In addition to his Cincinnati Pops post, Reineke is also principal pops conductor of the Long Beach (California) Symphony and Modesto Symphony orchestras; he begins his new post as music director of the New York Pops in October 2009.
