In Sunday’s (3/23) WKYC (Cleveland), Justin McMullen writes, “The Cleveland Orchestra on Sunday released its plans for the 2025-2026 season at Severance Music Center. The acclaimed orchestra’s 24th year under the baton of music director Franz Welser-Möst will begin Sept. 26–28 with the U.S. premiere of a new TCO co-commission composed by Bernd Richard Deutsch, followed by the ‘Dance of the Seven Veils’ from Strauss’ Salome and Ravel’s crowd-pleasing ‘Boléro.’ Welser-Möst, who has missed significant portions of the 2024-25 season for health reasons, will remain on the podium for every show through early November … Tugan Sokhiev makes his Cleveland Orchestra debut for Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 from Nov. 13–15. ‘As we unveil The Cleveland Orchestra’s 2025–26 season, we celebrate our remarkable 24-year partnership with Music Director Franz Welser-Möst,’… said André Gremillet, President & CEO … Dalia Stasevska, who made her TCO debut last season, will return the following week to take on Dvořák’s ‘New World’ Symphony.” Other guest conductors will include Elim Chan, Jakub Hrůša, Daniel Harding, and Barbara Hannigan. “Violinist Augustin Hadelich, pianist Daniil Trifonov, and pianist Yuja Wang … will all return to Severance next year…. The orchestra’s fourth annual Mandel Opera & Humanities Festival will take place in May 2026, highlighted by three performances of Beethoven’s only opera, ‘Fidelio.’ ”
