Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra will embark on their eighth international tour together this fall, including the fourth biennial residency in Vienna’s Musikverein scheduled for October 29-November 2. Between October 20 and November 3 the orchestra will perform a total of ten concerts in Toronto, Amsterdam, Paris, Luxembourg, Vienna, and Linz. Soloists participating in the residency will be soprano Malin Hartelius and baritone Simon Keenlyside (in Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem) and pianist Mitsuko Uchida (in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4). Joining the orchestra for its November 1 and 2 performances of the Requiem will be the Vienna Singverein, of which Welser-Möst is an honorary member. Additional tour repertoire will include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and works by Shostakovich, Debussy, Haydn, Liszt, and Widmann. The Cleveland Orchestra’s international tours are supported by the Frances Elizabeth Wilkinson International Touring Fund.
